Wilshire Homes

Our story begins in 1991, when Ed Horne and two other partners started a home building company they called Wilshire Homes. The first model home was built in The Oaklands Community in Austin, and in 1996 the company expanded into three communities in the San Antonio market.

In order to strengthen its financial capabilities, Wilshire merged with a national homebuilding company, The Fortress Group, in 1997. This alliance propelled the rapid growth of the company, thereby expanding its product lines and redefining the homebuilding experience with its Six-Step process.

In June of 2002 Ed Horne, along with one of the largest residential investment companies in the country, purchased Wilshire Homes from The Fortress Group. Today, Wilshire Homes is the largest private homebuilding company based in Central Texas. The company owns over 2000 homebuilding sites in 20 communities in the Austin and San Antonio markets.
