In 1991, after 8 years with major homebuilders Bill Wait realized he wanted to start his own company. At the same time Doyle Nix was contemplating expansion, after being in the custom homebuilding business for 10 years.

Bill and Doyle had known each other for many years going back to Mr. Wait's time in the lumber business. RTC lots were plentiful and inexpensive in 1991. They both decided that a partnership was the way to accomplish their common goals and Colonnade Homes was formed.

Starting with 3 or 4 homes in several communities, Colonnade is now a successful regional builder, building 300-400 homes per year in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Presently in 16+ communities ranging in price from the 100's to the 250's. Also Colonnade builds hundreds of homes per year in other markets.

Doyle Nix Amenities, L.P. is the commercial construction and general contracting division. This company builds office buildings, recreation centers, town homes, office warehouses, and subdivision amenities for developers. Doyle Nix Amenities, LP has an impressive list of completed and on going projects.

B&D Land L.C. is the land development arm of the Colonnade family keeping hundreds of lots under development at any given time for Colonnade's use and for sale to other builders. The Colonnade group of companies' dedication to customer service has resulted in many long-standing relationships, repeat business, referrals, and the company's overall success.
